Razer Copperhead FTW

Razer Copperhead

Razer Copperhead

So, yeah, the razer copperhead mouse just absolutely rules. I’ve been using the copperhead for a couple years now and started using the new Lachesis mouse on my iMac about 8 months ago. I got tired of the feel of the mouse and the cursor skipping around randomly sometimes.

I put my copperhead on the iMac and it’s like night and day, it’s that amazing. The copperhead feels like a BMW compared to the Lachesis which is more like a PT Cruiser and the prices should be swapped. The copperhead is a way better mouse IMO. It feels better not just in using the computer but also in games.

I’m left-handed so Razer’s mice are really great for me. If i was right-handed, though, i would have to pick between using the copperhead or the logitech G5. They’re both absolutely the best.

I used a crappy, $15 microsoft mose for almost 10 years. Last month I bought a Logitech G5 and I will never go back. I am completely spoiled now by the epic comfort and accuracy.

Razer make great mice – I use the Razer Krait on my Mac, never looked back! Their mouse mats are also work a look-see.

I’m left handed too and i can find some mice difficult to use. Thanks for the tip, i’ll give this one a go.

I never had Razor mouse. There are different opinions some peoble love them others not. For me most Razor mice are too light. Need to check this model.
Im still using an old Mx1000 and it serve me well.

  5. romero says:

i felt that the razer mice were too light as well, when i first started using them. the lachesis is heavier than the copperhead but there’s no comparison.

the interesting thing is that after you get used to the mouse, it doesn’t feel light anymore. just get used to using it.

I have a lachesis and I love it more than the copperhead but I am right handed.
After using the lachesis the 2 small sensitivity buttons are definitely missing on the copperhead

I for myself use Razer mice since a couple of years now, and i was happy with every single mouse from them. You should give the Razer Death Adder a try. it is bigger than the Copperhead, which i always wished a little bit bigger.

I have a Trackman Wheel by Logitech since 2003 happy Sad to say but It’s time to buy another one!

Logitech G5 for me. Hands down, the best. Razors are nice, but I can’t get used to the feel of the buttons. I have the “rust” version of the G5. I need to upgrade to the “lightning” or whatever you want to call it so I can get the extra side button.

Your comments on the Lachesis stuck out for me, being left-handed myself. I leaned towards the Lachesis because it’s ambidextrous. And the two buttons below the mouse wheel gives more options for binds and stuff. Although, reaching the buttons on the left hand side of the mouse is almost impossible with my pinky. <_< That’s about the only complaint about the mouse.

The Copperhead looks more straight to the point though, it also being ambidextrous is a plus. Thanks for your thoughts, dude.

    Hi John

I’ve also been using the Razer Copperhead for donkey’s years. Awesome response and laser-like precision for picking out XML tags, I don’t think anything can quite beat it…

Take care and have a good day John!

I’m still all about my Logitech mx518. I’ve had the same one for almost four years now … when it dies, I’ll probably bury it and give it a funeral lol.

And holy anonymous Chinese spam, Batman! Does anyone still even play Runescape, let alone buy gold for it? I thought that ship had sailed.

  13. Luke Skywalker says:

Hey John, I’m using a copperhead but i think its too lite… i prefer g15 instead. However, since i’m following you since long long long time ago, and you’ve always been my favorite game designer, i dare make you an advice, or better a question: why don’t you join Chris Taylor in the reborning Interplay? It has been one of the most fantastic publisher years ago, and i’d like a sequel of messiah so much… Hey John please please reply me tell me that you’re alive and you will come back soon with a ftw… ehm no, no copperhead, but a ftw PC killer application. We need you so much!

  14. romero says:

OKAY – i’m making a really great MMORPG with some cool innovations. My best game in a looooooong time.

  15. Typh0n says:

    so true man.
I had the deathadder and the copperhead. Both amazing mice
I got the LAchesis and it skips around

then i also bought the wireless mamba and that skips around too!
    So i sent it back

  16. ZomBuster says:

I got a Copperhead for like a year now and I love it too, but I heard stories about production faults and how it would break in a few months.

Good thing it didn’t, and know I know John Romero uses one, I feel much better

  17. AgentGrape says:

I just got the new Mamba, nice and heavy unlike the lightweight death adder, with the same shape. Tracks great too, and has really excellent wireless.

No good for a lefty though, though I am left handed I mouse right handed, I don’t know how I could live if I didn’t, I like a shaped mouse.

  18. Anonymous says:

i have a lachesis, and sometimes the cursor suddenly skip upwards. something to do with the gray coating around the sensor.

my idea for a great mmo would be with no subscription, p2p hosting and somewhat open source tongue oh and in space hehe.

  19. anonymous says:

I had Lachesis and it annoyed me to no ends; very slippery and cursor keeps drifting up. (Anybody else had this?)

So I just put it away, and I found this old ps2 optical mouse by Micro Innovations – one of first to come out.

Its shape is very comfortable and I found that my aim is rock-on stable with it.

So I think shape of mouse – how you grip it – is most important aspect of it.

If anybody wants this thing I be happy to sell it at any price (above 25 bucks.) I am not feeling to go back to it unless I got no other choice in future.
