I have tried many, many times to get into this game. Up until an hour ago I was convinced there was something I’m missing…as if I’m playing the game wrong.

Well, I got news. The game just sucks.

I have been playing, on and off (mostly off) since 2005. Although I’ve never bought an expansion pack, I’ve seen the game degenerate from a somewhat entertaining adventure RPG game into, well, something that sucks even worse but with some nice features (PvP/Dungeon finder).

WoW is the most flawed game ever. It just reeks like a stagnating cash cow.

I’ll admit I have less patience than the average gamer. I was born and raised on two platforms – Sega Genesis and MS-DOS and as a result I have a huge affinity for fast paced action games.

But WoW is just plain work. People bitch about grinding, questing everything. You know, endgame is so much better it’s “worth it.”

But it isn’t. A great game shouldn’t make you bitch. It’s like the entire game is the airboat levels from Half Life 2…Mediocre crap you need to play to have a massive virtual orgasm.

Actually, that’s not fair cause that airboat had it’s moments.

Anyway, here are my issues with WoW:

-Sucks until you hit the endgame.
-World PvP is shit, and involves being ganked by assholes 30 levels higher than you. Sometimes, you’ll invade an enemy town full of shitty NPCs. It just sucks that the players there are too low level to do ANY damage.
-PvP is mediocre.
-Instances suck after two runs through. Gnomeregan was a blast for a long time though, I never got bored of that one.
-Your gear is a template with different textures.
-The game is nothing but a cock size contest. Yeah I’ll admit it’s awesome getting a truly great piece of equipment but you know what’s better?

Single handedly killing a hive in Natural Selection. Yeah Boi!

-Combat system is simplistic and shitty for 60% of the game.
-Exploring loses it’s fun after you realize it’s all the same spiders and dinosaurs you’ve always seen, but with different textures.
-Character design sucks. The Horde look completely retarded, except for Blood Elves and Orcs. Don’t get me started on Gnomes.
-Sound effects are some of the weakest I’ve ever heard.
-WoW has the least effecient, most poorly programmed, system hog of a graphics engine I have ever seen.

Back in the day, it was one of the most effecient. Now, since patch 3.0, captain dipshit decided to write complex shader programs that bring my 8800GT to it’s knees, trying to render content that would have looked sexy a full five years ago. The mobile GTX 260 in my laptop isn’t spared, either.

Now some praise:

-Character designs aside, I absolutely love the art style in the game.
-Night Elves are some of the coolest looking characters I’ve seen anywhere. They look fucking sick, seriously whoever designed those deserves a freaking medal.
-The humans are painfully white. They make The Goode Family look like a bunch of wiggers.

So yeah artwork aside the game is shit.

I just can’t get into the game and that is my opinion.

I’m not touching it. I will get hooked, and I have much better things to do with my time, including playing other games

More seriously, I share Boone’s opinion. Paying each month for a game, whatever its quality is, is beyond me. I don’t do it because I would feel captive. “Hey I paid, I’d better play as much as I can to get the best ROI!” or “Oh shit, I didn’t launch the game this month, I wasted €13!”.

I bought Guild Wars (and all episodes/extensions as they were released). Sure it quickly gets boring (especially because you’re capped to level 20) and it’s not as addictive as WoW. But I play now and then with my girlfriend, after all games are just for fun…

It’s just not my kind of game. I fired it up again, currently in Desolace trying to level, and I can tell already once I beat these two quests I’m gonna be bored of my ass (lol, grinding) and my account will go into limbo again.

The pacing and inconsistent quality of certain aspects of this game is rather interesting. Usually a great game is like a concours quality ’57 Chevy Bel-Air, polished to the hilt everywhere.

With WoW it’s like looking at a car covered in dirt that has been selectively cleaned to perfection in only a few places.

The game isn’t really good until end-game. I found myself getting a bit bored too – but then I dinged 80, now I’m loving every second of it.
