Just wanted to say the in light of the failure that was Doom3…the only way Doom4 will succeed is if Mr. Romero breathed some soul into Carmack’s new engine just like the old days.

I’d honestly die of fanboy heartattack if John R. has been secretly working on Doom4. I can dream can’t I?

most games these days are nothing compared to older games

look at street fightter 2 , i was watching a review on it lately and saw so many details this game had in any aspect of it…
doom is one of those master pieces that had so many details and depth…if you read my “doom boost ” that actually was supposed to be called doom post. on this forum you will realize that they were not a fluke or luck for they were design choices..

Today games dont care anymore to make games challenging and intelligent nor do theycare about details.. games are too one tracked and there is no real multiplayer either only online modes… my consol is useless cause all you can do is play single player..
the philosophy of gaming is backwards these days.

It is as if game devs became too satisfied with 3d and 3d rendering that they stopped using their imagination anymore.. they dont reach out to make things realistic , fun and flavoured .. where is that sense of “lets make this game look more then it is.. lets give the player the impression and the hope of doing things that are not so appearant” i dont know exactly how to express what i am talking about but .. in older games there were much more inspiration and hope…
most games were almost impossible to finish in a month…
granted some of those games were ridiculously hard but it did not mean they did it by choice..

these days all you find is either games that have been made too hard to give the impression that the game is challenging or they are too spoon feeding…

WHERE DID CHEATS GO! ? cheats used to make games more interesting so that you could finish a game having all the equipments and “god” mode so that you could enjoy the game again in a different experience….

all we got today is achievements.. one of hte most trivial things i have ever seen.. and the achievements arent even close to the deffinition of acheivement.. they are random and irrelevant to most of your game play… its insulting to intelligence.. i never thought achievements were anything but a useless invention.

Games are becoming impotent , short.. stiff and lack lusting …
some games just plainly want to create gore and that is the only thing they need to be agood game.. other games are just plain online games with little or no special developement on the game itself.
I guess you could say that games today really lack a soul no doubt about it.
